Credit card debt is a major cause of over one million bankruptcies each year. The reason is that many people get a credit card without researching and reading the fine print. By the time annual fees are added on, along with spending indiscriminately, payments are missed, which causes their balance to skyrocket.

Although we all like to place the blame on the credit cards and the credit card companies, you need to keep in mind that the real cause of your financial mess is you.

One shopping spree does not usually cause high debt. It is usually a pattern that consists of gradually increasing purchases that add up to a large debt. The great thing is that it can be very easy to get out of debt. The key is to start spending less than you make. This is a long-term solution that can help you to whittle your debt down.

Although it may sound simple, it can be very difficult if you have a problem with willpower. It is important to stick with spending less than you make or you will find yourself in exactly the same place as you were before. Overcoming your debt will take willpower and a great deal of time.

It may be difficult to stick with your debt repayment program, but keep yourself strong and you will find yourself out of debt before you know it.

It is important to learn how to get out of debt and then stay out of debt. If you can summon enough willpower and strength towards your finances and spending, then you will find yourself the winner in the game of debt. It may be easy to get into debt, but getting out of debt is much more difficult, but worth it.

One simple phrase can sum up the solution to your financial problems. If you dont have the money to spend, then dont spend it!

Acquiring too much debt can put a major strain on a household. To eliminate debt, many people consider bankruptcy. With the new bankruptcy laws, it has become difficult for some people to eliminate debt. However, many will continue to qualify for bankruptcy protection. The effects of bankruptcy are long term.

Before considering bankruptcy, it helps to explore solutions to debt elimination. Here are three tips that can help reduce debts.

Limit Credit Card Use and Pay More than Minimums

People file bankruptcy with varying credit amounts. Some have acquired over $10,000 of credit card debt, whereas others only have about $2,000. Individuals with small debts can usually payoff the balances without bankruptcy. However, these persons must be willing to make sacrifices.

If attempting to eliminate debt, stop using the credit card. Paying only the monthly minimum, and then going on a shopping spree defeats the purpose. Before you can successfully eliminate credit card debts, you must commit to using cash for all purchases. Additionally, the majority of minimum payments barely reduce the finance fees. To notice a significant reduction, endeavor to pay the minimum payment, plus an additional $50 – $100.

Negotiate a Lower Interest Rate

If you have maintained a good payment history with a credit card company, attempt to negotiate a lower interest rate. When contacting the credit card company, highlight your history with the company such as length of credit account, payment history, etc. If your credit is good, the company may consider a reduction. Before approving the request, you must consent to a credit check.

In addition to evaluating your history with the company, they will also assess whether you maintain a good payment record with other creditors. If your credit score is low, it may require the help of a debt consolidation agency to convince creditors to lower interest rates.

Once your credit card interest rate is lowered, you pay less finance fees. Thus, a larger portion of your monthly payments will help reduce the outstanding balance.

Consolidate Debts with a Home Equity Loan or Refinancing

Owning a home provides a huge advantage. Homes increase in values, thus they gain equity. As a homeowner you have the option of tapping into your home’s equity. Through a home equity loan or refinancing, you have the chance to get hold of a lump sum of money that can be used for different purposes. One such purpose includes debt consolidation.

Word Count:Article Body:
Many people love their credit cards. Its a fact of life and the figures bare this up. If you look at the rate at which UK credit card debt is rising it is quite amazing. Millions are being spent all day every day in an endless frenzy of spending. Pretty soon, three quarters of all adults in the UK will have credit cards and if you were to ask any of them to give theirs up, you can bet their answer would be no. The convenience and security of carrying a credit card is so great that once people experience it, they rarely go back.

One of the favourite features of credit cards for many people is the minimum repayment option. This is usually in the region of five pounds or two per cent. This means that even if you spend a thousand pounds on a shopping spree, your bill at the end of the month could be as low as twenty pounds if you choose to make the minimum payment. And this is what people do. It is what credit card providers want you to do, as it is how they manage to rake in billions in profits every year.

If you do have a significant outstanding balance, then making the minimum repayment is one of the most dangerous habits you can get into. Most minimum payments will barely cover the interest and finance charges that are due on the balance. This means that you are really just servicing the debt. This is what many third world countries are forced to do with their national debts and most people do not want to be the personal equivalent of sub-Saharan Africa do they? Servicing debt means you pay the interest due, but pay nothing against the principal debt. So all those monthly payments that you make are doing absolutely nothing to reduce the amount you owe.

If you continue spending on the credit card, the minimum amount, required simply to service the debt, will grow and grow each month. And all the while you are paying back nothing. If you aspire to becoming debt free, then you really have to pay a good deal more than the minimum payment level. Also, if you are serious about clearing your credit card debt, but recognise that it is going to take you more than just a couple of months, you may wish to consider consolidating the debt.

Credit Card Debt Consolidation – Getting Out And Staying Out

How many people have heard of the term credit lifestyle? Well in my option, thats one of the worst kinds of lifestyles to live. Living on credit, is spending money you dont have. Well this article is going to let you know more about credit card debt consolidation. So enjoy!

One of the major causes of over one million bankruptcies last year was credit card debt consolidation. The reason being that a lot of people just go out and apply for a credit card without finding out more info about credit and debt. Then they go out and buy a ton of stuff they normally wouldnt on credit. When its time to pay the debt, their annual fees are added on, along with spending like theres no tomorrow, payments are missed, compounded, which causes their balance and interest to shoot for the moon.

Im sure we would love to place the blame on the credit cards and the credit card companies. You need to keep in mind that the root cause of your credit card debt consolidation mess is no one but you.

One shopping spree spurge does not usually cause high card debt consolidation. Its usually a pattern that consists of small increasing purchases that add up to a large credit card debt consolidation. Well look on the bright side, it can actually be very easy to get out of debt. The key is to start spending within your limit. This is a long-term solution that can help you to whittle your debt down.

Although it may sound simple, it can be very difficult if you have a problem with willpower. It is important to stick with spending less than you make or you will find yourself in exactly the same place as you were before. Overcoming your card debt consolidation will take disciple and a great deal of time.

It may be difficult to stick with your debt repayment program, but keep yourself disciple and you will find yourself out of that nasty card debt consolidation before you know it.

It is important to learn how to get out of card debt consolidation and then stay out of debt. If you can summon enough disciple and strength towards your financial budget and control your spending, then you will find yourself out of debt in no time at all. It may be easy to get into card debt consolidation, but getting out of your card debt consolidation is much more difficult, but its something everyone has to do.

Just remember to keep yourself out of card debt with this simple phrase Spend within your means

Word Count:Article Body:
If you have credit cards, but have not yet let your spending get out of hand, then now is the time to take stock of your position and make some decisions about your financial future. Ask yourself what do you want those credit cards for? Do you just want them so that you have a source of payment in emergencies, to shop occasionally online, or when you travel abroad? Or do you plan on going on a shopping spree and spending the rest of the year struggling to clear the balance? Most people do not intend to ever use up their credit limits and max out their credit cards, but it is surprisingly easy to do, and can be very difficult to undo.

In many instances, lenders know that when they give out a credit card, it is like putting someone on the edge of a cliff. While not exactly pushing you over, they do place you in a very good position if you want to just make the jump your self. It can be very unfair, and anger against some practices of the lending industry is growing. For example, in a recent case in Ireland, a womans husband killed himself after getting into an unmanageable amount of debt using credit cards. The wife is now seeking legal advice on whether she can sue the lenders for recklessly allowing her husband to get into a position where he would feel it necessary to kill himself.

While there have been no judgements of this kind yet, and it would be an up hill battle for anyone who sought to put the blame for their spending on the lender, cases such as this are very easy for most of us to imagine. Most people know that credit card companies have given them far more than they reasonably can afford to pay back. Therefore it takes self control and discipline to keep these cards in your wallet and not over spend on them.

But as with many things in life, when it comes to credit card debt, prevention really is better than cure. One of the best practices or habits you can get into regarding credit cards is to have a direct debit set up so that you have to pay back the full amount each month. This means that while you have the convenience of using the card in emergencies or while abroad, you have a strong incentive not to let your lending get out of hand.
